Our goal at Kode With Klossy is to inspire young women to not only
pursue opportunities in tech, but show them the many creative ways
code can be applied to their passions across industries.

Karlie Kloss has had a lifelong passion for math and science. Even as her fashion career was taking off, she remained committed to studying her favorite subjects, parlaying them into her now-five-year-old non-profit organization, Kode With Klossy, which offers free summer camps to teach girls aged 13-18 how to code. You might wonder what this could possibly have to do with beauty, but Karlie and her Kode With Klossy scholars prove that the worlds of science and coding don’t have to be limited to lab coats and algorithms. Coding is surprisingly creative: just look at the gorgeous version of our website that one of this year’s scholars “hacked” to support our cult-favorite lipstick line, Pure Color Envy.

“Our goal at Kode With Klossy is to inspire young women to not only pursue opportunities in tech, but show them the many creative ways code can be applied to their passions across industries,” Karlie shared. In fact, as a result of their camp experience, 90% of Kode With Klossy scholars plan to pursue opportunities in computer science. By the time they get to college, 65% of camp alumni major or minor in computer science or engineering, compared to 3% of women nationally.

We’ve always believed in giving women a seat at the table of the industries that are shaping our world. In fact, our founder, Estée Lauder, was no stranger to this phenomenon when she started her brand in 1946 as one of very few women in business. This is why we’re thrilled to have partnered with Karlie on an exclusive, limited-edition “Lip Kloss Kit.” It features three of her favorite Pure Color Envy lip products (more on how to get her super model lip look below), and comes in the cutest textured pink bag with an “ode to code” keychain. “I knew I wanted to include some of my favorite products, but also wanted it to be a fun keepsake,” Karlie shared. Estée Lauder is donating 100% of the selling price of each kit to Kode With Klossy.

Karlie gave us the scoop on her top lip techniques in this video, so be sure to check them out. And if you’re thinking about picking up a Lip Kloss Kit just because, remember it’s also for a cause!
